What is work worth if it doesn’t pay enough to meet your basic needs, if it ruins your health or, in the worst case, if it ultimately kills you? Absolutely nothing. That is the idea behind decent work: a minimum standard that ensures that work provides a living, often a necessity even in stable societies.
